International Student Requirements

Welcome to missouri southern state university!

All International Students are required to check in with the Willcoxon Health Center on campus.

You are unable to start classes until your Health Center check-in is complete.

Campus requirements include:

  1. Complete Medical Health History Form on Medicat.
  2. A measles, mumps and rubella titer (blood test that proves immunity) will be performed at check-in. If non-immune, you will receive two doses of MMR, 28 days apart, given in the Health Center.
  3. Tuberculosis risk assessment questionnaire (completed on Medicat). Follow up TB testing will be performed in the Health Center if risk factors are identified.
  4. Dorm Housing – a meningitis (MCV4) vaccination will be given in the health center upon check-in.

The University no longer accepts shot records or lab testing from outside of the United States.

Additional services may be required (e.g. chest x-ray) that is not included in previous estimate.

Once your visa is approved AND you have confirmed that you are attending MSSU, you should be able to set up your Health Center account.

We suggest completing your forms prior to orientation to help expedite your check in process.

We use a platform called Medicat to collect your health history and to communicate with you throughout your studies with our university.

Please set up your student portal with your MSSU email credentials.

You will need to have previously set up your Microsoft authenticator.

  • Once you have accessed the portal, you will go to the left-hand side of the screen and select “forms”.
  • You will select the “health history form” and fill in all the required fields. Select “submit”.
  • You will then select the “tuberculosis risk assessment” and answer all questions. Select “submit”.
  • On the left side of the screen you will select “uploads” and submit a picture of your vaccination record.
  • If you are under the age of 18, a parent or guardian will need to print and complete the “Under 18 Consent” so that the Health Center staff can provide care. Please upload a picture of the completed form under “uploads” tab.

If you encounter any problems with your Lion login or with authenticator, the IT Helpdesk can be reached at helpdesk@mssu.edu.

If you need help with Medicat or have additional questions, you can reach the Health Center at willcoxonhealthcenter@mssu.edu.

Will you accept a Tuberculosis (TB) test or chest x-ray from another country?

No, only TB tests done in the United States will be accepted. When you come to the Health Center during your orientation, the nurse will help you complete your TB risk assessment and determine if you need a TB test. If you do need a TB test, we will draw a blood sample and results will be available in 5-7 business days.

If you have a positive TB test in the United States, you will be required to have a chest x-ray in the United States.

How much money should I bring with me?

Your Health Center charges can be paid with cash, check or billed to your student account to be paid at a later date. We cannot accept debit or credit cards in the Health Center. The Health Center does not bill Health Insurance. If x-ray is necessary, we will work to send you to a local medical facility that does bill insurance. Your charges will vary depending on what testing is needed. This will be determined at your check-in appointment at the Health Center during your orientation. You should plan to pay anywhere from $75-$700.
