Graduate Career Outcomes

Graduate Employment Report

The Graduate Employment Report provides insight into the post-graduate employment and continuing education status of MSSU alumni within an average of 6 months of their graduation date. Additionally, the data reports detailed employment, salary, and graduate school information. These reports constitute the only centralized employment data collection for Missouri Southern State University and are used by current students, employers, colleges, departments, and other stakeholders. These results are also tied to state performance funding for MSSU. The data adheres to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) guidelines related to first destination best practices. For more information, visit NACE Standards and Protocols.

As an educational institution that strives to prepare students for successful careers, it is important to continuously evaluate the post-graduation status of Missouri Southern State University’s graduates. Career Services surveys graduates and organizes the data to provide stakeholders with the most accurate view possible of initial employment and continuing education statistics. Please find the Missouri Southern State University Graduate Employment Report Processes and Procedures Document which outlines survey methods and timelines.

What is Knowledge Rate?

The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) coined the term “knowledge rate” to be used in lieu of “survey response rate” to reflect the approach of going beyond simply relying on a survey for obtaining outcomes information. This term is borrowed from NACE. MDHEWD is suggesting all schools achieve a minimum of 60% knowledge rate.

What is Success Rate?

MDHEWD considers a student to have a “successful” career outcome if they meet one of the following criteria: Employed (full time), serving in the military, serving in a voluntary organization or program, or continuing their education. This policy is also borrowed from NACE. MDHEWD is suggesting all schools achieve a minimum of 75% success rate.
