How is the Global Leaders Program funded?
The Global Leaders program will be funded entirely by private gifts. Funding was launched thanks to a gift of $1 million from the late Joel Newby.
Newby served his country as a Marine in World War II before graduating from Joplin Junior College in 1947. He later went on to a distinguished career in higher education as a professor at the University of Houston. He expressed his desire to help students achieve their maximum potential despite their economic background, and the generous gift from his estate will help Missouri Southern do just that.
