Director of Global Leaders
Ben Cooper began as the Director of Global Leaders in 2024. He holds a Master of Music in Trombone Performance from the University of Kansas along with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Luther College, and he is working on the completion of a Doctor of Musical Arts in Trombone at the University of Oklahoma. Before joining the Global Leaders team, Ben served as an adjunct professor of music at Missouri Southern and Langston University, teaching low brass, music theory, and music education courses. Outside of the office, Ben can be found playing the trombone in musical groups in and around the Joplin area, reading, and playing games with friends.

Program Coordinator for Global Leaders
Julie Christiansen has worked at Missouri Southern since 2021. She holds an M.A. in Higher Education from Purdue University, and a B.A. in Liberal Studies from the University of California- Riverside. She is the program coordinator for the Honors program, as well as the Global Leaders program. In her free time you can find her hanging out with her kids, playing with her cats, or gardening.
