Missouri Southern State University hosts the annual Regional Science Fair on the last Tuesday of March. The 35th Missouri Southern Regional Science Fair (MSRSF) will be held at MSSU Billingsly Student Center on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. The MSRSF is open to middle school and high school students (5th-12th grade) from ten counties in Missouri, including Dade, Cedar, Vernon, Barton, Jasper, Newton, McDonald, Barry, Lawrence, and St. Clair; and six counties in Kansas, including Neosho, Crawford, Montgomery, Labette, Cherokee, and Bourbon. On a case-to-case basis, we may allow some schools outside the above counties to participate in the MSRSF.
Students can participate in either a Senior Division, grades 9 through 12, or in a Junior Division, grades 5 through 8. They can compete in the following eight categories in each division:
The MSRSF is affiliated with the Society of Science that organizes the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) and Junnior Innovators Challenge (JIC) competitions. Over 1800 high school students from all around the world participate at the Regeneron ISEF each year. One finalist from the MSRSF senior division gets a nomination to participate at the 2025 ISEF in Columbus, Ohio. Three finalists from the Junior Division will also get nominations to compete at the Thermo-fisher JIC.
