Mary Van Galen is a Wisconsin native and a first-generation college student.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from Washburn University and a Master of Science in nursing (with a family/child specialty) from the University of Texas-El Paso. While in Kirksville, Mo., she worked as an OB nurse and was on the nursing faculty at Truman State University.
Later, she completed a Master of Arts degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and teaches adult English Language Learners from 19 different countries in rural Wisconsin.
Mary’s interests include family, service, learning about different cultures, travel, and baking (with a specialty in high-calorie delights). She enjoys being part of a vibrant and diverse campus community.
She and her husband, Dean, have one adult daughter.
