Missouri Southern will host an Artist Talk via Zoom with award-winning Canadian photographer Paul Zizka on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. in Webster Hall’s Corley Auditorium.
Based in Banff, Canada, Zizka is a mountain landscape and adventure photographer. His work has been featured in highly regarded publications such as National Geographic, Wall Street Journal, Outside Magazine, Globe and Mail, and more. His client list includes Canon, Apple, Dell, Panasonic, and MEC. Zizka has also published eight books by Rocky Mountain Books: Summits & Starlight: The Canadian Rockies (2013), The Canadian Rockies: Rediscovered (2017), Aloft: Canadian Rockies Aerial Photography, and Spirits in the Sky: Northern Lights Photography (2021). He has hiked icy glaciers, backpacked across summits of countless peaks, and explored remote destinations to capture the beauty of awe-inspiring vistas. Zizka is also a sought-after speaker and educator who uses his expertise in technique, design and content to inspire students and photographer aficionados.
His MSSU exhibition, Wild Canada: An Expression of the North, runs from Sept. 3-Oct. 2 at Spiva Art Gallery on campus.
The Artist Talk and exhibition is hosted in conjunction with the Fall 2024 Themed semester, focusing on Canada. Themed semesters have been hosted at MSSU since 1997. Many countries such as Czech Republic, Ireland, France, Korea, have been featured in previous years. Through themed semesters, MSSU can bring the world to students, fulfilling its mission of creating global citizens.
