Jazmine Knight is usually the one behind the camera, but this time, all cameras were on her as she graduated from Missouri Southern this Saturday.
Knight felt right at home in the communications department, where she doubled majored in communications and public relations with minors in entrepreneurship and speech communications.
“Our department is like family,” she said. “We had individuals from different backgrounds and perspectives, which made us come together to create a unique and memorable experience.”
Her peers challenged her intellectually, and her professors became role models and guides not just in the field but in school and life.
“I felt valued and responsible since my teachers and classmates entrusted my opinions on various projects and decisions,” said Knight. “I loved my time in the communication department, and it'll probably be something I miss most about Southern.”
After graduation, Knight will work as a multimedia journalist at News Press Now in St. Joseph, right outside her hometown of Kansas City. Her future aspirations don’t stop there: She plans to pursue her master’s in justice studies, attend law school, and run her own online boutique. However, her main goal in life is to be content.
“My biggest aspiration is to be happy,” said Knight. “I'm looking forward to where life takes me, but my main goal is to feel complete in whatever I do.”
