Established in 2017, The Outstanding Family Award at Missouri Southern is given out to a multiple generational family of Missouri Southern Lions by the Alumni Association. This award recognizes a family which has had an outstanding impact on or made outstanding contributions to Missouri Southern. The award will be given annually during Homecoming.
The nominated family must have had multiple generations (at least two) who have attended and graduated from Joplin Junior College or Missouri Southern. The nominated family must have had an outstanding impact on or must have made outstanding contributions to the University to be considered.
