ELEMENTARY EDUCATION PATHWAYS
Elementary Education Pathways
Middle school teachers (grades 5-9) are given the freedom to concentrate on specific subjects near and dear to their hearts. A Bachelor of Science in Education Degree, Middle School Education major allows you to become certified in single or dual areas.
As a graduate of one of Missouri Southern’ s grades 9-12 Teacher Education programs, you’ll be eligible to teach at the high school level. You will also be well-equipped to continue on to our Master of Science in Education Administration or Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction programs.
As a graduate in one of Missouri Southern’ s K-12 Teacher Education programs, you’ll be eligible to teach at any grade level kindergarten through grade twelve (K-12). The grade levels certification allows greater flexibility in obtaining a position in any school district.
The Online Elementary Education Program is specifically designed for education professionals seeking a path to elementary education teacher certification (grades 1-6). All coursework in the Program is offered online and a new cohort begins every fall semester.
Students can choose from three different graduate programs in the Teacher Education department. With a Master of Science in K-12 Education Administration, students can prepare to be building principals. With a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction, current teachers and other professionals can build their skills in curriculum implementation, assessment, and research design. With a Master of Arts in Teaching, students with a Bachelor’s degree in a content area can pursue a path to alternative teacher certification.
