Are there any automatic admission programs for MSSU’s nursing program?
No, all applicants must meet the admission criteria/standards for the program which may be found in  Admission Standards

How do I schedule an appointment with a MSSU nursing advisor?

Can I apply to the nursing program at MSSU if I have never taken a course at MSSU?  
Yes, MSSU accepts transfer credits from accredited colleges and universities from across the country. You may visit with MSSU’s admission office at   417-625-MSSU (6778)   or   866-818-MSSU   (6778). You may also visit the transfer articulation agreement website to see if MSSU has a transfer articulation agreement with your college or university.

What prerequisite courses are required to apply to MSSU’s nursing program?

If I still have prerequisite courses to complete, am I eligible to apply to MSSU’s nursing program?

Students are determined eligible to apply to the pre-licensure BSN or LPN to BSN program the semester before the anticipated nursing program semester starts (Fall or Spring pending approval) and upon completion of all pre-nursing admission requirements. If I have a previous degree, am I eligible to apply to MSSU’s nursing program?  
Yes, as long as you meet the MSSU nursing program admission standards.

Where do students complete their clinical hours while in MSSU’s nursing program?  
A wide variety of clinical sites are available for students to complete clinical hours as they progress through the program. Clinical sites are primarily located in the greater Joplin area and include hospitals, clinics, long-term care settings, specialty hospitals, home health agencies, hospice, local public health departments, schools, and the MSSU Simulation Center.

What courses from other colleges and/or universities transfer to MSSU?

How do I apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN)?

The National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) is the licensing examination for graduates of all nursing schools, including diploma, associate, and pre-licensure baccalaureate. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements determined by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). Completion of the program does not guarantee eligibility to take the licensure examination.

Students who wish to take the NCLEX-RN exam in a state or jurisdiction other than Missouri can find a complete listing of State Boards of Nursing on the National Council of State Boards of Nursing website.
