Clinical Experience/Facilities

Clinical Experience

The Department of Emergency Medical Services utilizes direct patient care and observational clinical experience to provide students with exceptional patient contact and learning opportunities.  The Department of EMS acknowledges most learning occurs in the laboratory, clinical, and field settings.  As such, faculty plan and guide learning activities through a variety of clinical settings and opportunities.  The department uses a flexible scheduling system to provide experiences in regional Emergency Departments, Critical Care Units, Operating Rooms, Respiratory Care Departments, Labor and Delivery, Psychiatric, Cardiac Catheterization, Advanced Life Support Ambulances, Pediatrics, and other specialty care units.  The department sponsors an annual trip to St. Louis, MO for all paramedic students to complete pediatric and specialty unit rotations.
