Local and National Programming

KGCS provides national programming from the Youtoo America Network, as well as local programs serving the Joplin region.

Network programming airs throughout the day, with local programming airing in the evenings, Sunday through Thursday nights.

 Students assist with and produce local productions, gaining valuable hands-on experience.

Local programming includes:

News and informational programs:  Newsmakers, live and recorded coverage of Joplin City Council Meetings, coverage of MSSU Board of Governors meetings

Sports programs:  Live and recorded coverage of Missouri Southern football and basketball games.

 Missouri Southern highlight programs: Missouri Southern Lecture Series, coverage of MSSU international theme semester programs, Missouri Southern Music Presentations

• Local interest programs:  Joplin Insider interviews and other regional programs
• Special Interest programs: Window on the World (interviews focusing on study abroad opportunities at MSSU), Phillips File Show (stories from the archives of newsman Bob Phillips),  special documentaries
• Music programs:  Country Music videos (featuring new releases from Nashville musicians)
• KGCS history programs: KGCS Rewind takes a look back at programs that have aired on the station over the years.
