The MSSU music department is thrilled to have an active partnership with Heartland Opera Theatre in Joplin. Each fall, Heartland produces a fully-staged opera on campus at MSSU, with many faculty and students participating in ways big and small. These operas and other productions from Heartland Opera provide our students with valuable performance experiences, and incredible opportunities to work with active professionals in the field.
Past productions include Mozart's Così fan tutte, Verdi's La Traviata, Weill's Down in the Valley, Leoncavallo's I Pagliacci, Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, Bizet's Carmen, and most recently Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown.
