The camp will be educational in nature and prospective members are encouraged to audition on one or more different instruments to find their best fit. The actual audition will be in an individual and ensemble format. Your attendance at the audition is strongly recommended. However if there is a conflict, we will find a separate meeting time for an individual audition. There is no cost to audition. Meals are not provided (typically the group heads to a local fast food restaurant and begins getting to know one another). If you have any questions please direct them to Brandon Robinson, Director of Bands.

Hello current and prospective guard members! First of all, we are looking forward to football and marching band in 2021 being back to normal!! We can't wait!! Come join us for a great experience in the fall!
We are having our color guard audition day for all incoming MSSU freshmen, transfer students, and current guard members on May 1st from 10am to 3pm. This will be live and in-person, we ask that students bring masks and wear them when we are rehearsing indoors. Students will not have to prepare anything for the audition, all they have to do is bring equipment (flags, rifle, sabre) that is familiar to them. We have a fantastic guard coordinator, Ms. Lara Stamper, who will be walking students through the entire audition process from basics to routine. If want to be in guard at MSSU but cannot make the May 1st date, please have them email Lara at larastamper@joplinschools.org. We will work it out.
