Summer School in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China

MSSU has been invited to send faculty and students to the Zhejiang International Studies University (ZISU) in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China for their first ever International Summer Session. Basic information about ZISU can be found here. This special summer session begins approximately July 5, 2025, and ends on July 27, 2025. Previous MSSU students who have visited ZISU in November say the activities and field trips were outstanding.

Because MSSU is an exchange partner with ZISU, for this special summer session the cost would be only the flight to China, your travel VISA, and spending money for incidental/personal expenses. You would also pay MSSU tuition for the amount of academic credit you enroll in for this program. These courses could be regular MSSU classes taught by MSSU faculty, ZISU classes taught by Chinese instructors, or even classes taught by other international faculty.  The full list of available classes will be available soon, but the courses taught by MSSU faculty are:

ART 110- Art Appreciation - Mr. Frank A. Pishkur

EDUC 498 - Comparative Studies: Chinese & American Education - Dr. Melissa Locher

If you have at least a 2.5 GPA and full-time status, you can apply for a $1,000 study abroad grant to help offset the cost of the flight to China. The Zhejiang International Studies University is one of MSSU’s newest study abroad partners.

The next step is for you to fill out the application form.  If you don’t have a passport already, you would need to apply for one immediately and pay the extra fee to have it expedited.

If you have any questions, contact Dr. Bill Fischer at fischer-w@mssu.edu.
