Southern Safari is open to anyone – alumni, friends of MSSU, community members, retired faculty and staff – anyone with a desire to see the world and experience new cultures firsthand. Sometimes, we are joined by members of the International Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors.
The inaugural voyage was made to Italy in June 2015. The group also has traveled to Cuba twice (in May 2016 and May 2017) and to London (October 2017). The Safari club traveled to Scotland and Ireland in October 2019, to the Czech Republic and Austria in December 2022, to Spain in October 2023, and to Iceland in July 2024.
“The trip was just right for us – great people, great options for group activities, time to strike out on our own – it was a perfect fit!,” said Anita Tally, who went with her husband, Craig, on the London trip.
Travelers have ranged in age from 25 to 80. Everyone is welcome!
