The mission of the Department of Management at Missouri Southern State University is to provide students with a superior education. The Human Resource Management (HRM) program of the Plaster School of Business provides students and the community with a variety of educational options, opportunities, and learning experiences in the field.
The Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with Emphasis in Human Resource Management (BSBA-HRM) is a course of study designed to prepare the student to enter the field of HRM. The curriculum is aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) competencies and provides a solid foundation in the areas of supervision, benefits management, affirmative action, compensation, training, recruiting, selection, workers’ compensation, and employee and labor relations. Emphasis is also placed on the areas of ethics, integrity, social responsibility, oral and written communications, interpersonal relationships, technology management, international business issues, problem solving, project management, and critical thinking skills.
The program also offers two minors for all degree candidates: Minor in HR Management and Minor in International HR Management. Both programs of study provide a basis for entry-level positions in the field of HRM as well a basic HRM credential for bachelor’s degrees in disciplines external to School of Business.
The Plaster School of Business is an official Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Educational Partner offering both for credit and continuing education preparation classes for professional certification examinations in the HRM career field.
